Practice Transformation

The Quadruple Aim

A major force driving healthcare reform is the widely documented gap between the cost of health services and the outcomes that result from those costs. New policy changes nationally and in Washington State are underway moving payment models away from “volume to value.” These policies will have a major impact on small- to medium-size primary care practices and behavioral health centers.

The principles underlying the new policies link to a widely accepted framework for optimizing healthcare performance improvement—the Quadruple Aim—to enhance patient experience, improve population health, reduce cost, and improve the work life of healthcare providers, including clinicians and staff.
