Local Board of Health Membership Rulemaking FAQs

The State Board of Health recently released a Frequently Asked Questions document to answer questions related to the proposed Local Board of Health membership composition rule change.

The purpose of this rulemaking is to adopt rules as required of the Board in E2SHB 1152. Among other changes, the legislation creates new requirements for local board of health membership, requiring equal representation by elected and non-elected members. Newly required non-elected members must come from a prescribed list of health care and public health providers, consumers of public health, and other community groups.
