Enhanced testing of novel synthetic drugs available, but existing protocols must be followed
DOH and the Washington State Patrol recently received an announcement about Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) toxicology testing that is available in specific circumstances. The purpose is to expand toxicology testing for novel synthetic drugs.
This program does not replace state or local jurisdiction level toxicology testing for suspected drug overdoses. It does provide enhanced testing and a more timely awareness of novel synthetic drugs, as noted in a recent DEA Tox program quarterly report.
