CDC opens two overdose prevention grants
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) opened two overdose prevention grants.
Overdose Data to Action: Limiting Overdose through Collaborative Actions in Localities (OD2A: LOCAL)
This program will provide funding for local health departments to implement data-driven actions that reduce overdose morbidity and mortality in communities, with a primary focus on opioids and/or stimulants. This overdose prevention grant is open to city or county local health departments or bona fide agents, special district health departments, and territorial governments.
If you are interested in applying, you can find more information at OD2A: LOCAL.
Overdose Data to Action in States (OD2A-S)
DOH is submitting an application for overdose prevention and surveillance programming. As a part of its application to CDC, DOH plans to include an estimated number of LHJs interested in implementing Harm Reduction and Linkages to Care prevention strategies (p. 41-46 in the Notice of Funding Opportunity). In the next two weeks, DOH will provide instructions for LHJs to submit a Letter of Interest.
Once DOH’s application is submitted to CDC, we will have a competitive application process to identify a range of organizations, including LHJs, that may receive funds. Funding availability is contingent upon DOH receiving this grant.
You can find more information at OD2A-S.
If you need further information about DOH’s application for this grant, email DOH Overdose Prevention Technical Specialist Anjali Shankar.
