New dashboards show data on healthcare-associated infections
DOH has new data dashboards about device-associated healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). HAIs are infections patients acquire while in a healthcare setting. These infections threaten patient safety and public health. The impact of HAIs is significant, contributing to increased hospital stay, financial burden, loss of trust in the healthcare system, and potential death.
Infections associated with the devices used in healthcare facilities are known as device-associated HAIs. There are two serious, potentially life-threatening device-associated HAIs that hospitals are required to report: catheter-associated urinary tract infection and central line-associated bloodstream infection. See the new HAI page to learn more about these HAIs and access the device-associated HAI dashboards. The new HAI page is also where you can now access the C. difficile dashboards.
The dashboards show annual data for the last five years on the HAIs that hospitals are required to report. It also shows the progress hospitals in our state have made in reducing HAIs, and how our hospitals are currently performing.
