New interactive dashboard shares pesticide illness data

DOH’s Healthy Homes and Communities section in Environmental Public Health has published new interactive pesticide illness dashboards.

The dashboards show different routes and types of pesticide exposures, differences by demographics and occupation, severity of illness, and how often people were following the label and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at the time of exposure. The data are available for 2010 through 2021 at state and Accountable Community of Health (ACH)1 geographic levels.

In Washington, insecticide is the number one cause of acute pesticide illness and drift is the most common cause of pesticide exposure.

The information in the dashboards can help people better understand the risks associated with pesticides in their communities. The pesticide dashboards are the latest of the robust collection published via the Washington Tracking Network (WTN), a DOH program focused on making public health data more accessible.
