A Public Health Approach to Alzheimer's and Other Dementias Online Curriculum: Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias are public health issues because the prevalence and costs are substantial, the impacts are serious, and there are public health solutions. The Alzheimer's Association and CDC developed a free introductory curriculum. Each learning module offers free CHES Continuing Education credits.
Healthy Brain Initiative 2023-2027 Road Map (PDF) The HBI Road Map guides the public health effort to promote brain health by creating a framework for public health action. The Road Map advances equity by fully integrating brain health and caregiving into state and local public health practice.
ASTHO's e-learning HBI Road Map Module, developed by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), is designed to help public health agencies identify priorities and take action to improve dementia and caregiving.
Washington state Department of Health (DOH) Implementing the HBI Roadmap Toolkit for Public Health (PDF). In 2018, DOH created a Healthy Aging Workgroup to conduct an internal assessment of "touch points" for aging work throughout DOH and to identify opportunities to incorporate the action items included in the HBI Road Map. This toolkit maps out DOH’s process and demonstrates how other state or local public health agencies can use a similar approach in their organization.
