Rural Health Transformation Program at DOH
What is RHTP?
Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program is a 5-year cooperative agreement that offers an opportunity for Washington state to work with rural communities on health care initiatives that expand access, enhance quality of care, and improve outcomes.

DOH’s RHTP Work
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) received about $33.6 million for the work on Washington’s RHT initiatives that we are responsible for. Each initiative supports the state’s goals through specific activities. DOH is responsible for the following RHT activities:
Activity 2.11 – Expand community workforce
Activity 2.3 – EMS interfacility transport
Activity 2.44 – Community hubs
Activity 5.3 – Rural Nursing Education Program (RNEP)
Activity 5.41 – Grow-Your-Own training
Activity 5.5 – Rural workforce incentives
Activity 6.11 – Expand mobile crisis support
DOH is also supporting Activity 2.12 – Long Term Care Workers, which is being led by DSHS.
