The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) and its Office of Tribal Affairs lead the administration of Initiative 3: Invest in the Health of Native Families. The Tribal offices at the state Department of Health (DOH) and state Department of Social and Health Services coordinate with HCA while also supporting their respective agencies’ government-to-government responsibilities and Tribal engagement connected to RHTP implementation.

Washington dedicated 10% of its RHTP award, approximately $19.4 million, to Initiative 3. These funds are divided equally among Washington’s 29 federally recognized Tribes through HCA’s Sovereign Nation Agreement process, resulting in an allocation of approximately $669,402 per Tribe. Tribes do not need to compete for their Initiative 3 allocation. HCA is administering these funds.

Separate Tribal funding opportunities are also included under Initiative 6. In addition to the dedicated Tribal allocations, Tribes may be eligible to apply for competitive funding available through other RHTP initiatives.
