State sets standards for PFAS
A new drinking water rule now sets state action levels and requires widespread testing of public drinking water supplies for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. The changes will go into effect January 1, 2022.
These new state drinking water standards complement ongoing efforts by the Department of Ecology to set state groundwater cleanup standards and manage cost recovery for mitigation and clean-up from responsible parties.
