Single-dose Pfizer vaccine to arrive in 2023 in Washington

DOH’s COVID-19 Vaccine Program is expected to receive around 32,450 doses of Pfizer single-dose vials. These single-dose vials will be available for ordering in the Immunization Information System (IIS) starting Thursday, November 10 at noon.

Orders will be reviewed for approval on Monday, November 14 and will follow the normal ordering cadence for approvals (Mondays and Thursdays unless there is a holiday). (This information is subject to change and is accurate as of November 9, 2022.) Things you should know about ordering the single-dose Pfizer:

  • The minimum order quantity for the Pfizer single-dose vials is 50 doses
  • COVID-19 providers will have a maximum order quantity of 150 doses (this could change to 100 doses maximum depending on orders), if more than 100/150 doses are needed the provider will need to request the standard dose vial, 300-dose package size
  • No ancillary supplies will be received with the single-dose vials
  • 12 months ULT, 10 weeks in fridge, will come on dry ice
  • Messaging will request that providers order Pfizer single-dose vials in limited situations such as if depot locations are not an option for transfer and would not otherwise order vaccines
  • The program was informed that a threshold increase for the single-dose vials may not be received until 2023

On November 14, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will open ordering to federal entity partners for a limited amount of the updated (bivalent) Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people 12 years of age or older in single-dose vials.
