Grants open to build behavioral health facilities

The state Department of Commerce opened applications for Behavioral Health Facilities (BHF) Program Grants. The grants aim to increase capacity for community-based behavioral health care, and cover reimbursement of capital projects, including acquisition, design, engineering, construction, and capitalized equipment associated with establishing behavioral health facilities.

BHF currently has two open funding rounds: Children and Youth Residential Crisis Stabilization Program and Adult or Child Crisis Stabilization Unit. Upcoming Q&A webinars will share general information about each program.

Funding is open to eligible community hospitals or community-based behavioral health providers. Applicants must be a nonprofit or for-profit business, local government, or tribal nation. Pre-applications are due at 5 p.m. June 15, 2023.
