Federal government to reopen ordering portal for free COVID-19 tests on September 25

This week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it will reopen COVIDTests.gov. Beginning September 25, households can order four free rapid, at-home COVID-19 tests through the ordering portal.

According to an HHS news release, “these tests will detect the currently circulating COVID-19 variants, are intended for use through the end of 2023, and will include clear instructions on how to verify extended expiration dates.”
