    Work is under way to strengthen the site’s security and functionality, which will require a two-week freeze on any new work on the site. Between November 27 and December 8 all webpages will still be fully accessible and members can continue to log in and access document folders within the team collaboration tool (under My Portal).     Palliative care provides specialized care for people with serious illness that centers on symptom and stress relief. Through the Washington Rural Palliative Care Initiative, DOH has formed public-private partnerships with 19 rural communities to help patients have their needs met closer to home.

    Health practitioners working in chronic disease can get support from Prevention Research Centers (PRCs). The centers are a network of 26 academic research centers that work with local communities to develop, test, and evaluate solutions to public health problems. PRCs conduct community-based applied public health research to address chronic diseases and other leading causes of death and disability in the United States.
