About Our Work
The Practice Transformation and Quality Improvement facilitates two joint Practice Improvement Projects (PIP) between all five of the Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) in Washington state. These MCOs are Amerigroup, Molina, Coordinated Care, United Healthcare, and Community Health Plan of Washington. In conjunction with HCA, we support the MCOs in collective quality improvement work to improve an area of focus. Current topics are listed below.
Current Areas of Focus:
- Follow-Up After Hospitalization for Mental Illness (FUH): Assesses the percentage of inpatient discharges for a diagnosis of mental illness or intentional self-harm among patients ages 18 – 64 that resulted in follow-up care with a mental health provider within 7 days
- Health Equity PIP: Addressing health equity gaps in the children's mental health services rate for BIPOC children and young adults ages 6 – 17
Previous Area of Focus:
- Well-Child Visit PIP (2016 – 2023): Increasing well-child visit rates for children and young adults, ages 0 – 20 (21 for foster care) in the Medicaid population
